SINUVA is a non-surgical sinus implant designed to treat nasal polyps in patients who have already had sinus surgery.
Made of a soft, bioabsorbable material, the SINUVA implant is placed in the ethmoid sinus cavity during a simple, in-office procedure. It delivers a targeted corticosteroid (mometasone furoate) directly to the site of inflammation, shrinking polyps and restoring nasal airflow over time.
SINUVA is an ideal alternative to traditional revision sinus surgery, especially for patients looking for relief without additional operative procedures.
The placement of SINUVA is quick and performed right in our Palm Springs office.
After applying a topical anesthetic to keep you comfortable, your ENT specialist will gently insert the SINUVA implant into the sinus cavity using a nasal endoscope. The procedure typically takes 15–30 minutes, and most patients describe it as mildly uncomfortable but tolerable.
The implant gradually releases anti-inflammatory medication over 90 days, after which it is either absorbed or removed, depending on your healing progress.
SINUVA is FDA-approved for the treatment of nasal polyps in adults who have undergone prior sinus surgery.
Common symptoms it helps alleviate include:
By shrinking nasal polyps, SINUVA restores normal sinus drainage and improves overall breathing.

SINUVA is specifically designed to treat the ethmoid sinuses, located between the eyes and behind the nose. Its anti-inflammatory action targets the exact site of recurring nasal polyps.

SINUVA may be right for you if:
Your ENT specialist will evaluate your condition and confirm whether you’re a good candidate for SINUVA during your consultation.

Most patients resume normal activities immediately after the procedure. You may experience mild congestion or discomfort for the first few days, which typically subsides quickly.
It’s important to:
Some patients experience relief from nasal congestion within the first few days. Most notice continued improvement in breathing, reduced pressure, and a better sense of smell over the course of a few weeks.
The SINUVA implant releases medication over 90 days, with effects often lasting several months or longer. Depending on your response, repeat treatment or other management strategies may be recommended to maintain results.
The implant is designed to stay in place for up to 90 days, slowly releasing medication. Your provider may remove it sooner depending on your healing.
The procedure aims to be nearly painless, with most patients feeling only mild discomfort or pressure during and after placement. It remains in place for up to 90 days but can be removed earlier if needed, based on your doctor's guidance.
We recommend checking with your provider.
Most patients return to their normal activities shortly after the procedure.
SINUVA may reduce your reliance on oral steroids, but some patients still benefit from nasal sprays or other maintenance therapies.
Unlike surgery, SINUVA is minimally invasive, done in-office, and involves no incisions or general anesthesia. It’s ideal for patients with recurrent polyps post-surgery.
